Message See this info from Greg Dupree though.. I emailed him about it, and this was his reply. Good info...
(see my profile for my mods, BTW)

"Pressure plate clamp load is what makes the clutch hold power once engaged. The sport pressure plate has enough clamp load to hold the power of all your mods and sport 500 turbos....Plenty of clamp load and RPS has someone check the clamp load of every pressure plate they make.
The disc is what makes the clutch grab...A street disc is organic material and is made to engage the clutch perfectly smooth like stock....This Disc will hold plenty of power once engaged but is not made for launching the car. When you rev the engine and want to get a heavy car going that speed instantly a street disc will glaze and tear....Once a street disc is glazed it will not hold as much power.......They are not for launching they are made to be smooth and last a long time.

A 6 puck is a ceramic racing disc made for grabbing hard...The newest materials are great and are almost as smooth as a street disc you can launch the car at 7000 RPM with these disc's , But because the material is aggressive they wear faster.
All clutch material needs to seat into the flywheel and pressure plate to be able to hold maximum power.
In performance parts everything is a compromise....For people that road race and drive alot that want a clutch to last a long time, hold power once engaged and feel like the stock...The street disc is great....For the guys that want to dump the clutch and drag race the 6 pucks are great as long as they are willing to replace it more often. Drag racing is very hard on all the drive line parts especially the clutch....Drag racing costs a lot of money and the more power you make the easier it is to wear parts out and break things."

It should be noted that my clutch pedal was adjusted incorrectly. I was getting engagement only when the pedal was nearly hitting the floor. I'm not sure how this affected wear on the friction disc, but I'm certain I voided my warranty having the thing adjusted improperly.

The clutch holds perfectly fine during normal driving. It slipped BADLY during a few hard launches after I got the testpipes put on, and I'm not about to go out and launch it hard again to see if it was a one-time deal or not. I just pulled the clutch back in March, and I'm not in a hurry to do it again. Next time, I'm going with the sprung 6-puck or maybe even the Max series..

Note: this is NOT a RPS bashing thread. The RPS sport street is as smooth as stock and I wouldn't hesitate buying one again EXCEPT for the fact that I want to have the capability to do a few hard launches every now and then. I'm pretty eager to get some timeslips now that my car has the tespipes and is running properly, but I guess I'll just have to wait until I swap clutches again.
